How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Dermal fillers work by adding volume below the skin to contour the area and smooth away lines and shadows. They are fantastic for:

• Static lines and wrinkles

Some types of lines, such as frown lines and other lines caused by repeated movements, are better treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic. This product relaxes muscles to smooth away dynamic wrinkles. To achieve the best results, many people choose to have both BOTOX and fillers injected in the same appointment.

JUVÉDERM

This family of smooth gel hyaluronic acid fillers includes:

RADIESSE®

RADIESSE is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, which stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. We use this filler for liquid butt lifts and larger areas that need a more significant volume boost, such as the neck, décollete, abdomen, elbows, and knees.

Sculptra®

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which serves as a scaffolding for collagen production. Along with RADIESSE, we use a hyper-dilute form of this filler to treat larger areas of the body.

What Is It Like To Have Dermal Fillers Injected?

Dermal filler appointments are quick and minimally invasive, making them a favorite of our clients on the go. When you arrive for your appointment, we’ll take you back to a comfortable treatment room and have an in-depth conversation about the results you’re looking to achieve.

After designing a custom treatment plan, your injector will cleanse your skin and apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable. Next, we administer a few quick injections to place the filler in carefully selected areas and create a gorgeous, natural-looking result. The whole process typically takes less than an hour.

What Is Recovery Like After Dermal Filler Injections?

After your treatment, you will need to refrain from alcohol use and any strenuous activities. Avoid travelling for at least 24 hours and make sure to get plenty of rest. You should also avoid makeup or any harsh skin care products as it may irritate your skin. Take acetaminophen (Tylenol) to manage any discomfort and gently apply ice to keep swelling to a minimum.

To minimize bruising and make the recovery process as speedy as possible, we recommend avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning supplements for 48 hours before your appointment.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal fillers typically last between 12 and 24 months, depending on the type and placement for the filler.
